UPDATE: Great news, folks! This morning I contacted the Orlando Police Department’s Permitting Dept. after hearing reports Westboro had canceled its protest at Bishop Moore. Those reports were confirmed by OPD.

The previously scheduled protests at Dr. Phillips High School and Kennedy Space Center have been rescheduled for April 29th. There were no permitting requests for a rescheduled protest at Bishop Moore. Again, OPD has confirmed that the event has been canceled. Therefore, there is no longer a need for a prayer group to gather on Tuesday, April 19th from 2:45-3:45 p.m.

To those of you who replied to this event, I thank you for considering standing with the students of Bishop Moore.

If Westboro Baptist Church decides to reschedule the Bishop Moore protest, which is possible, I will let all of you know.

Thanks again!

On March 26, 2011, Westboro Baptist Church announced that its members would be coming to Orlando to protest outside of Bishop Moore Catholic High School. The protest, which is set to take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 3:00-3:30 p.m., will be directly in the middle of dismissal times for both Bishop Moore Catholic High School and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School.

Have a cupcake to celebrate Catholica Omnia's 1st birthday. :)

A year ago today, as I began transitioning out of studying in the seminary, the Thomas Pringle Vocation Blog was renamed Catholica Omnia. When I originally made the change, I was unsure about what things I would cover and I even questioned whether or not I would continue blogging. However, seemingly everywhere I went, people were asking me to continue with the website so they could continue to follow my journey. So, needless to say, I continued to keep the pages up.

Throughout the year, as I began to write about papal trips to various countries, bishops appointments, social concerns, and much more, the experiences taught me more than I would have learned otherwise. In June, I began to recognize that there was a lot of interest in learning about the Catholic position on various social issues, an idea came to mind about starting a series of posts on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Wherever that idea came from, the result has been an incredible blessing for me and I hope the posts have been as much of a grace for you.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for stopping by, however often that may be. We are on this faith journey together and I thank all of you allowing me to share my own personal faith experiences, thoughts and challenges. Keeping the website up, no matter how challenging it can get a times, has been one of the biggest blessings in my life.

May the Lord grant you abundant blessings and happiness.

Bringing in the New Year Rome Style! | Source: WDTPRS

Good afternoon and welcome to December!! Here in Florida, the last month of the year  has rolled in with a vengeance. It’s freezing down here and by freezing I mean highs in the mid-60s. What can I say? As a native Floridian anything below 75 degrees makes me put on a jacket. Nonetheless, it is definitely a beautiful way to begin preparing for Christmas.

Over the last few days, I have been running an idea by my fellow tweeps about doing a series of posts on the top Catholic stories of 2010. However, I realize that many of you are not on that Twitter contraption. Nonetheless, I wanted to get your insights and ideas. What have been the most intriguing, inspiring, or controversial Catholic stories of the year in your opinion?? Feel free to email me at [email protected] with your thoughts. You can also leave a comment below.

I am looking forward to receiving your insights. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend so far. I would like to take a minute to apologize for the lack of substantial posts over the last few days. I know many of you have wondered where I have been lately. Well, things have been quite busy on my end with working, getting ready for school, etc. It is so hard to believe that this summer is practically over; school is just a couple of weeks away. To be honest, I am quite excited about getting back into a normal routine.

Over the next few days, things should begin to return to business as usual and I will have some more time to do posts here and on the Catholic Vote Action blog. I thank you for patience and for your continued reading.

I know I promised some more on the federal judge’s decision to overturn Proposition 8. But, truthfully, there are others out there who are more capable of giving you information on what this decision means for us as a Church and as a country. I recommend that you check in with our good friend the American Papist for all of your news on Proposition 8.

There is one thing I will say about the decision, however:
