Words of Pope Benedict XVI

Friends, again I ask you, what about today? What are you seeking? What is God whispering to you? The hope which never disappoints is Jesus Christ. The saints show us the selfless love of his way. As disciples of Christ, their extraordinary journeys unfolded within the community of hope, which is the Church. It is from within the Church that you too will find the courage and support to walk the way of the Lord. Nourished by personal prayer, prompted in silence, shaped by the Church’s liturgy you will discover the particular vocation God has for you. Embrace it with joy. You are Christ’s disciples today. Shine his light upon this great city and beyond. Show the world the reason for the hope that resonates within you. Tell others about the truth that sets you free.

As Vocations Awareness Week continues in the United States I wanted to reflect on some words that Pope Benedict shared with the young men and women in April of 2008. In his address, Pope Benedict asks the young people of the world what they are planning to do to change the world. He tells all of us to look at our lives and see what graces God has given us. The Holy Father reminds us to pay attention to what God is “whispering” to us, which can only be discovered through “silence.”
We are the future leaders of the world! We have to make our faith our own, focusing on our morals and the teachings handed down to us from the church. When our faith and morals begin to shape the way we live our lives, we will see a dramatic shift in the manner in which the peoples of the world relate with one another.
